Tripura Twist: Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb quits
Speaking to the media, Deb said, “The party may have some plans and I am confident that it will be good for the party.”
In a piece of shocking news, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb resigned from his post on Saturday. Deb submitted his resignation to Governor Satyadeo Narayan Arya.
Speaking to the media, after his resignation Deb said, “The party may have some plans and I am confident that it will be good for the party.”
“I have tried to bring justice to the state. This decision has been made keeping in view the 2023 election so that the party can win and for the interest of the organisation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Deb was summoned by the party high command on Friday where he met Home Minister Amit Shah at New Delhi following which he submitted his resignation.
It is also reported that new chief minister of Tripura might be announced later in the day. According to sources, Pratima Bhowmik is seen as a candidate who can replace Biplab Kumar Deb.
It is to be mentioned that Biplab Kumar Deb was the first BJP chief minister in the Northeast who has suddenly asked to quit.
Sources in the BJP said the legislative party will meet at 5 pm and elect a new chief minister. “The outgoing chief minister play an important role in party’s organisational activities,” said a source.
