The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the BJP will be meeting today to finalise the tickets for the upcoming assembly elections in Tripura. If sources are to be believed the CEC will be finalizing the tickets in presence of Prime Minister Narendra, BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah besides other top party functionaries.
The CEC meeting will be chaired by the party’s national president JP Nadda at the party’s national headquarters in Delhi.
Earlier on Thursday, the Tripura BJP core group met Union Minister Amit Shah at the national capital and discussed the poll strategy. As per reports, the meeting went on for almost five hours at BJP National President JPNadda’s residence.
Top sources informed Northeast Live, that a detailed discussion on each candidate took place during the core group meeting and a list of short listed candidates was also be prepared to be discussed in the CEC meeting.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Senior leader Jishu, State President Rajiv Bhattacharjee, Election Incharge Mahesh Sharma, BJP north east convenor Sambit Patra, former CM and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Deb, and Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik are expected to attend the the CEC meeting.
Earlier on January 25, the Left Front had released the candidates list for 47 of the 60 Assembly seats.
Since both the CPI-M and Congress have forged an alliance in view of the ensuing elections, the Congress will be contesting in the remaining 13 seats.
