Tripura police seize contraband worth Rs 5 lakh
Police found 78.5 grams of suspected brown sugar concealed inside six soap cases hidden in the vehicle’s handbrake cover.
In a big success in the war on drugs, police in Tripura’s Amtali seized contraband worth rupees 5 lakh on Wednesday.
On the basis of specific information, Amtali Police intercepted an SUV in front of the Amtali Police Station while the vehicle was trying to enter the capital Agartala from south Tripura.
During checking of the vehicle, police found 78.5 grams of suspected brown sugar concealed inside six soap cases hidden in the vehicle’s handbrake cover.
Speaking to the media, officer in charge of Amtali Police Station Siddhartha Kar who led the entire operation informed that the entire consignment is worth around 5 lakhs in the market.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle identified as Om Prakash Shaw who is also the owner of the vehicle has been arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and further interrogation is currently underway.
