In a major breakthrough against the illegal drug trade, Tripura police yesterday recovered a huge quantity of brown sugar and also arrested two drug peddlers in connection in Agartala.
Acting on specific inputs, police conducted a vehicle check and found the contraband hidden inside a vehicle.
The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Balaram Shaw and Jahidul Islam, both residents of Bhati Abhoynagar.

Later police raided the house of one of the arrested drug peddlers and recovered factory-made pistols.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the duo at West Agartala police station.
Both arrested will be produced in the court today and police will seek remand for further interrogation to get more details about their involvement in procuring drugs and arms.
