Tripura Govt Employees Federation stages protest pressing for 14 key demands

The Tripura Government Employees Federation on Sunday staged a four-hour mass agitation in Agartala pressing for 14 key demands including immediate release of 26 per cent dearness allowance (DA), enforcement of the 7th Central Pay Commission for state government employees and regularization of contractual employees with assured regular salaries.

The demands also included pension alignment with the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendation, cessation of outsourcing and contractual engagements in government departments, establishment of a comprehensive transfer policy, prompt filling of all vacancies, provision of substitute employment for the dismissed 10,323 teachers and the implementation of health insurance for all government employees.
Expressing discontent, the agitators argued that the government had failed to fulfill its commitments to the welfare of government employees.

Additionally, they alleged that the absence of a proper transfer policy allowed the victimization of employees, especially those associated with opposing trade unions, through threats of punitive transfers to remote areas.

They also threatened to organize bigger agitation if their demands are not filled.
Tripura Congress state president Asish Kumar Saha, and MLA Gopal Chandra Roy also joined the agitation as the Tripura Government Employees Federation is affiliated to the Congress.
