Cong veteran Sudip Roy Barman to contest from Agartala, Cong president Biraji Sinha to contest from Kailashahar

Tripura Congress has announced a list of 17 candidates just a while back. Party president Birajit Sinha would be contesting from Kailashahar, Sudip Roy Barman, the veteran Tripura politician would be contesting from his home turf Agartala. He has won from this seat four times. He has been holding on to this seat since 1998. He won the seat in 2018 on a BJP ticket.

Ashish Kumar Saha is pitched against Tripura Chief Minister and BJP leader Manik Saha in Town Bordowali.

Interesting to note that Congress announced a list of 17 candidates while its ally CPI-M had kept just 13 seats for the party. It remains to be seen how CPI-M would react to this and if there would be a friendly contest in the four seats.
