Tripura: CM Saha visits Badal Chowdhury in TMCH

The move comes in stark contrast to the ill-treatment meted out to Badal Chowdhury back in 2019.

In a touching move, Tripura’s new Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday visited the Tripura Medical College & hospital, which happens to be his old workplace, to meet the ailing deputy leader of the opposition and veteran Marxist Badal Chowdhury, who has been admitted to the hospital for over a week now with serious illness.

Chief Minister Dr Saha enquired about Badal Chowdhury’s health and exchanged courtesies while instructing the hospital authority to take special care of the ailing leader.

Along with the Chief Minister, BJP MLA Dr Dilip Das who had also once worked in the hospital as a gynecological specialist and professor accompanied the Chief Minister.

The move comes in stark contrast to the ill-treatment meted out to Badal Chowdhury back in 2019 when the veteran leader was taken into police custody from the ILS hospital where he had been undergoing treatment for illness.

Speaking to reporters the CM said Chowdhury’s condition is stable and hopefully very soon he will be released.
