Tripura CEO reviews poll preparedness; security arrangements

Amid reports of sporadic violence in some places, Tripura Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kiran Gitte today reviewed the arrangements for ensuring smooth conduct of polls in Agartala.
As per inputs, a large number of nominations are likely to be filed tomorrow. The Tripura CEO also reviewed the security arrangements during his visit to the SDM office in Sadar subdivision in Agartala.
Speaking to Northeast Live, CEO Kiren Gitte said, “‘We are expecting 250/300 nominations across the state. In 2018, there were 350 candidates. Till today, there are only 76.”
The Tripura CEO also spoke on the security arrangements. He said, “We have made special security arrangements to handle 3/4 nominations at a time across the state. For safety and security of candidates, several entry and exit points were made including barricading, videography to handle the situations.”
Meanwhile, the Tripura CEO also appealed the political parties to follow the designated time for filing of nominations and work with mutual convenience.
Gitte said, “We shall complete the process in time. There is lot of anxiety. Administration is geared up for this.”
