Tripura celebrates Christmas, hundreds attend church in Durjoynagar

Hundreds of Christians in Tripura attended the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass at Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral Church in Durjoynagar joining millions worldwide in festive celebrations.

Amid the chilly night, the faithful prayed for global peace, focusing on their state’s harmony and expressing hope that the Christmas festivities would contribute to restoring peace in the region. The priest emphasized the message that Jesus, born to bring peace to the world, symbolizes the season’s significance.

The annual Christmas Eve Midnight Mass featured special prayers and musical programs that continued into the early hours of Monday, the Christmas Day. The overarching theme, ‘Jesus Christ, Savior of the World,’ guided the prayers, seeking divine intervention to alleviate human suffering and foster positive transformations in people’s hearts.

Despite the cold night, a considerable number of attendees, including many youths, gathered inside the cathedral to hear the priest’s message. The atmosphere reverberated with carols sung throughout the evening, creating a festive ambiance as people, even those away from home, actively participated in the celebrations.

Following the midnight mass, the revelry continued with the cutting of cakes, and attendees joyously danced to the music, marking a spirited conclusion to the Christmas festivities in Tripura.
