First Published: 14th August, 2023 20:57 IST

Chief Minister Manik Saha chaired a second round of meeting to discuss the strategy for the poll battle

The Tripura BJP is on a war footing to ensure that it continues it winning spree and grabs the Boxanagar and Dhanpur constituencies in the upcoming bye elections.
A day after Chief Minister Manik Saha chaired a meeting with party leaders, he presided over another closed door meet with the party leadership today.
This is significant since the BJP is holding back-to-back parleys after the Opposition (TIPRA Motha, Congress, CPI-M) discussed about fighting the Saffron Party together.
Without revealing much information, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha after the meeting today said, “The discussions revolved around regarding organisational status since elections (by-polls) are approaching.”
When asked as to when the names of the party candidates will be announced, Chief Minister Saha stated, “It will be done before August 17. Discussions are taking place.”
Minister Ratan Lal Nath who was also present in the meeting also responded regarding the Left Front declaring the names of candidates well in advance.
Ratan Lal Nath in his response said, “The Left Front is in the third place now. In the upcoming Lok Sabha election they will be at the 4th place. They will not gain the status of an Opposition Party. But the main question is that with how much margin they will win. Our victory is sure.”
Voting for the bye polls will be held on September 5 and counting of votes will take place on September 8.
