TIPRA Motha’s mega rally on July 8

The decision to intensify its agitation comes in less than a week since Pradyot Kishore Debbarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah
The TIPRA Motha, the main opposition party of Tripura, is all set to further intensify its agitation seeking constitutional solution to its demand for Greater Tipraland.
Party chief and royal scion, Pradyot Debbarma has announced that a mass rally will be organised on July 8 at the Madhab Bari village under Jirania block in West Tripura. The rally will be headed by him.
Debbarma in a tweet said, “On the 8th of July I will be at Madhab bari to speak to my people and demand for our constructive rights ! We will do it so peacefully but the pressure will remain in the assembly and on the ground ! I ask all of you to attend the gathering !”
The TIPRA Motha’s decision to once again renew the agitation assumes a lot of significance since it comes less than a week after Pradyot Kishore Debbarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.
After his arrival in Agartala, the TIPRA Motha chief had mentioned that creation of a Greater Tipraland topped the agenda of the meeting.
The TIPRA Motha chief after the meeting with the Union Home Minister, said that his party will not become a part of the BJP government in Tripura until and unless the demand for a constitutional solution is fulfilled.
Pradyot Kishore Debbarma and 9 of his party MLAs had met the Union Home Minister in New Delhi. The development followed after Pradyot held a late night meeting with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on June 29.
The developments had triggered speculations on whether the Centre would concede the Tipra demand for maximum autonomy and devolution of powers and the possibility of Tipra Motha siding with ruling BJP.
