Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance or TIPRA or Tipra Motha is going to organize a mammoth public gathering in Agartala for its demand of ‘Greater Tipraland’ and also demand for holding the village council election of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.

The public rally is going to be held at Agartala’s Vivekananda Maidan on March 12. This was announced by TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma during a press conference in Agartala yesterday.

He said that already the application for permission has been submitted and he is hopeful that the state government will provide the permission.

He informed that originally the public meeting was scheduled on March 5 but due to some other programme it has been deferred and the gathering has nothing to do with the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah who is likely to visit the state on March 8.

Debbarma said that while they would be pushing for its demand for Greater Tipraland, Tipra Motha would also be putting forth the demand for holding the village council polls in the TTAADC at the earliest.

Earlier also the TIPRA Motha chief demanded for Village Council election at the earliest for the development of the rural areas in Tripura.

Notably, as many as 785 village councils spread across Tripura ADC had their tenures expired a few months back but the elections could not be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
