TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma reiterated his demand to the state election department for immediately conducting the election of the village committees under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
Debbarma said that developmental activities at the ground level are getting badly hampered without an elected village committee. He also said that earlier the village council polls were deferred due to Covid, but now with the urban civic body polls held recently, it is high time the village council polls should be held.
Pradyot Kishore Debbarma also talked about the major Tipra Motha rally which they are planning to hold on March 12 in Agartala. The party would be putting forth the demand for Greater Tipraland and holding the village council polls.
Commenting on the recent political violence in Tripura between the BJP and the Congress supporters, Debbarma said that this is nothing new and instances of political violence have happened before too.
