The devastation has resulted in the loss of 31 lives and caused an estimated Rs. 15,000 crore in damages.
Continuing his outreach to flood-affected regions, Tripura’s royal scion and TIPRA Motha founder, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, on Sunday visited the Gaddang Ashwini Tripura Para area in the Shantirbazar Assembly constituency of South Tripura.
The visit comes in the wake of a tragic landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, which claimed the lives of seven people from two families a few days ago.
Debbarma, accompanied by his sister and Member of Parliament, Kriti Devi Singh Debbarma, rushed to the site today to offer his condolences to the grieving families.
In a compassionate gesture, he handed over a cheque of Rs. 50,000 as an ex-gratia payment to each of the affected families, providing them with immediate financial support during this difficult time.
During their visit, the Debbarma siblings also took time to visit the relief camp set up at Gaddang Ashwini Kumar Tripura JB School, where many of the displaced individuals have taken shelter. They personally inquired about the well-being of those affected, ensuring that their needs were being met.
Speaking to reporters later, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma made a heartfelt appeal for unity.
He urged all political parties and the public to set aside their differences and work together to address the current crisis, as the state of Tripura has been severely impacted by recent natural disasters.
The devastation has resulted in the loss of 31 lives and caused an estimated Rs. 15,000 crore in damages.
In a further gesture of solidarity, Maharaja Pradyot has invited all the affected families to his palace tomorrow, where he plans to provide additional financial assistance to help them rebuild their lives.
The visit was also attended by South Zone Joint Chairman Harendra Riang, Sub-Zonal Chairman David Murasing, Shantirbazar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manuj Kumar Saha, and other leaders from the TIPRA Motha party, who showed their support for the ongoing relief efforts.
