Ouster from IPFT president’s post befuddling; Mevar Jamatia
Jamatia said that very soon he shall challenge the notice of N C Debbarma against him in the court.
Just days after IPFT President Mevar Kumar Jamatia was suspended by party founder N C Debbarma, Jamatia took part in a one-day state-level conference organized by the IPFT central executive committee at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan and raised questions on the validity of N C Debbarma’s executive order as he failed in the party president election held on April 3.
Talking exclusively to Northeast Live, Jamatia claimed that everything was conducted in a democratic process and hence he fails to understand why he was removed from the post of IPFT president.
Reacting to N C Debbarma suspending him on grounds of indulging in anti-party activities alleging that he wanted to merge the IPFT with TIPRA Motha, Jamatia said that it was in fact N C Debbarma who had signed an MoU with the then TIPRA Motha president B K Hrangkhawl on November 25, 2021, in which it is clearly mentioned that to achieve the demand of Tipraland or Greater Tipraland both the parties shall contest the next village council and assembly election as one single entity.
Jamatia further said that as president he only worked for the benefit of the people, recently in a meeting of central executive committee members, over 80 percent of the members wanted to work together with the TIPRA Motha party.
Jamatia added that very soon he shall challenge the notice of N C Debbarma against him in the court. He also said there may be a split in the party very soon but assured that he shall continue to work for the party’s development.
It may be mentioned here that during the IPFT party’s 5th triennial state conference of the center executive committee on April 3 last, N C Debbarma has lost the election for the post of party president to Mevar Kumar Jamatia.
