Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervour spreading the message of harmony and brotherhood

Along with the rest of the nation, Eid-ul-Fitr was also celebrated in different parts of the Northeast .
Muslims across the globe are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr which marks the culmination of the month-long fasting during the Holy month of Ramzan.
Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated across the world on different days and it is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon which is supposed to denote the start of the Shawwal month in the lunar Islamic calendar.
In essence, the sighting of the Eid moon is a time for celebration, unity, and reflection. It is an occasion that brings people together, fosters a sense of spiritual solidarity, and serves as a reminder of the importance of tradition and the preservation of Islamic customs.
A significant aspect of Eid celebrations in Assam is the singing of Zikir, songs focusing on the teachings of Islam, emphasizing the remembrance of Allah’s name.
Zikir gatherings, which involve devotional assemblies rooted in Sufism, are an integral part of Assam’s socio-cultural fabric.
Eid is also being celebrated with religious fervour at Silchar in Assam’s Cachar district. Devotees thronged mosques in large numbers to offer prayers, embodying the spirit of unity, peace, and communal harmony.
The day began with the faithful congregating at various mosques in Silchar for the special Eid prayers. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of brotherhood and joy, as people embraced one another, exchanging Eid greetings.
Eid festivities were also witnessed in Kokrajhar in the Bodo heartland.
Eid is also being celebrated in Shillong. Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were offered at different mosques and Eid gahs.
Thousands of Muslims congregated at the Gedu Mia mosque in Agartala to offer morning prayers.
The Eid prayers were led by Imam Maulana Abdul Rehaman, who emphasized global peace in his special prayer.
The atmosphere was filled with love and a sense of forgiveness and harmony as people embraced each other transcending religious boundaries, highlighting the true spirit of Muslim.
Devotees after offering his prayers at the Gedu Mia mosque in Tripura’s Agartala said, “This is a very special day for us. We are going to spend the whole day with joy, all our family members and well-wishers will be there. There will be sweets and other items to be relished.”
Another Muslim faithful said, “Eid Mubarak. This is an occasion where we offer Namaz after the end of a month long fasting. This is an occasion to pray for peace amity and brotherhood.”
