Massive protest by TIPRA Motha, accuses state govt of looting people

Tripura leader of opposition and TIPRA Motha leader Animesh Debbarma launched a scathing attack on the incumbent BJP-IPFT dispensation

TIPRA Motha has accused the Manik Saha-led BJP-IPFT government in Tripura of looting the people and depriving them of their rights and privileges.
TIPRA Motha, the main opposition party of the state’s workers and leaders took to the streets and in a protest rally alleged that its demands for a ‘Better Tripura’ have been overlooked by the government.
Marching through the streets, the agitators congregated at the Block Development Officer (BDO)’s office.
Chaotic scenes were witnessed as the protestors defied security and forced themselves inside the BDO office premises. The agitation was spearheaded by Tripura leader of Opposition and TIPRA Motha leader Animesh Debbarma.
Chanting slogans, the TIPRA Motha workers accused the BJP-IPFT government in the state of exploiting the common people. The protestors also submitted a memorandum in support of their demands which include-conduct of Village Committee Elections at the earliest, consultation with the Village Monitoring Committee notified by TTAADC for comprehensive development of Village Committees, safe drinking water to all living under TTAADC areas, repairing of roads in interior areas within two months as well as clearance and hike in wages of MGNREGA workers.
Furthermore, the party demanded the implementation of a social pension scheme for the elderly, widows, unmarried girls, and physically handicapped individuals in all ADC villages, with the pension amount increased to Rs. 3,000.
They also called for the resolution of power cut issues, provision of housing under PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana), inclusion of genuinely impoverished families in the BPL (Below Poverty Line) category list, and the appointment of ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) workers and helpers.
After handing over the memorandum, Animesh Debbarma said, “The BJP-IPFT government is running a business of loot everywhere by depriving the people, so we are protesting. We are here for the sake of the people.”
“Our protest today will send a loud message against the business of loot,” Debbarma further added.
