Marijuana plantation of Rs 95 lakh destroyed in Tripura

1 lakh Marijuana plants which were planted in an area of 20-25 acres of forest land were destroyed

Large-scale marijuana (Ganja) plantations worth Rs 95 lakhs were destroyed in the Sitakala Konaban area in Sipahijala district of Tripura on Saturday.
The destruction drive was carried out by the Agartala battalion of Agartala Sector under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (East).
Based on inputs regarding the plantation of Marijuana plants in Sitakala Konaban, near the Indo Bangladesh Border, a joint operation was launched by the Agartala Battalion of Assam Rifles with a police representative from Madhupur Police Station.
The joint operation destroyed approximately 1 lakh Marijuana plants which were planted in an area of 20-25 acres of forest land.
The State police have valued the total destroyed Marijuna plant to an approximate cost of Rs 95 lakhs.
Searches are underway to find out the cultivators, said police.
