Less funds allocated to TTAADC: TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Debbarma hits out at Tripura govt

First Published: 8th July, 2023 10:00 IST

This step motherly treatment is the reason we demand greater Tipraland, Pradyot said.

TIPRA Motha Chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has lashed out at the Tripura government for allegedly allocating less funds for the purpose of development in areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
To prove a point, the Tripura Royal scion has said that such actions of the government has prompted the demand for a Greater Tipraland.
Pradyot taking to Tweeter said,”It’s shocking to see that the Govt of Tripura has allocated less than 2 percent of the funds for the development of TTAADC . Almost 70 percent of land comes under ADC and 35 percent of the state population lives in the ADC . This step motherly treatment is the reason we demand greater Tipraland.”

On May 26, the TIPRA Motha had sent a letter to Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya alleging that the TTAADC was not given adequate funds leaving people in a state of severe distress in terms of medicine, water, education, jobs. The principal opposition party in Tripura had decided to move the Governor considering him to be a custodian of the ADC.
In the letter the TIPRA Motha had pointed out that of the total Rs 619.25 crore for the financial year 2022-23 only Rs 126.59 crore had been released. This has resulted in a delay in the disbursement of staff salaries and other departmental activities. For the current financial year only Rs 4.24 crore has been allocated for developmental work, the letter to the Governor stated.
It was only on July 6, when the TIPRA Employees Federation (TEF) organised a rally in Khumulwng on Thursday to protest against the irregular release of salaries and pensions for TTAADC employees and pensioners.
