Tripura, Uttarakhand team up to promote Ayurveda

Easy availability of medicinal plants in Tripura and Uttarakhand can go a long way in bringing transformation to the health sector.

Has Ayurveda lost it’s relevance in treatment of human disease? But the Tripura government has teamed up with the Uttarakhand Ayurveda University to spread the message of change in the health sector with the help of one of the most ancient ways of curing ailments.

Different aspects regarding the wellness of Ayurveda topped the agenda of the deliberations on the occasion of 7th National Ayurveda Day in Agartala. Dr. Sunil Kumar Joshi, vice-chancellor of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University spoke to Northeast Live, and highlighted the fact that both Uttarakhand and Tripura are geographically very similar where several medicinal plants can be found.

The Uttarakhand Ayurveda University Vice-chancellor is of the view that both the states have enough potential for Ayurveda as well as production of ayurvedic medicine which according to him can cater to the needs of the entire nation. Further, Joshi added that Ayurveda has a bright future.

Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said that initiatives should be taken to ensure that the nation returns to its past and Ayurveda gets back its credibility and confidence of the people.

Chief Minister Manik Saha also added that the state government is working on plans to set up Ayurvedic Medical College and an Ayurvedic Medicine production plant.
