Pradyot Debbarma reiterated that politics and party are secondary when compared to the democratic rights of his community.
TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Debbarma has reaffirmed his commitment for a constitutional solution to the indigenous people of Tripura. The Tripura Royal scion reiterated that politics and party are secondary when compared to the democratic rights of his community.
Responding to remarks that TIPRA Motha will cease to exist after the end of 2023, Pradyot Debbarma speaking to mediapersons in Agartala today after returning from Delhi said, “TIPRA Motha is not important, TIPRASA is more important. If we prefer TIPRA Motha party over the community than any party whether it is the TIPRA Motha, IPFT or any other party, it cannot go for long. The fight (for Tiprasa) will continue till my last breath.”
Referring to Dinesh Debbarma quitting the party, he said that Dinesh Debbarma was unhappy since he did not get a ticket in the last assembly elections from the Ramchandraghat constituency.
“But our (TIPRA Motha)’s fight is not for ticket. Our fight is based on the ideology of Tipraland. This is a movement. We are fighting for constitutional rights. Whoever wants to do politics, let them do. I and even Vijay Hrangkhwal (President of TIPRA Motha) did not get tickets.”
On August 26, Pradyot Debbarma had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. BJP Northeast co-ordinator Sambit Patra shared a picture of the meeting in X (formerly known as Twitter) and said, “Shri Pradyot Manikya Ji had a fruitful meeting with Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji in Delhi today. They discussed the ongoing talks and the rights and welfare of the indigenous people. It has been the vision of the prime minister to secure the rights and empower the tribals of Tripura and the rest of the country.”
