CPI-M held a major rally yesterday in Tripura state capital Agartala while invoking all opposition parties to unite and thwart the BJP’s rule.

A protest rally was taken out in Agartala by the CPI-M’s Scheduled Caste Coordination Committee after which a public meeting was held which was attended by Tripura’s top CPI-M leadership.

Opposition Leader and former CM Manik Sarkar in his address said that the BJP-IPFT government is anti poor while working for a small section of rich corporates beside privatisation of all government jobs.

He viewed that the quota or reservation for the SC community as of no use under the present government in Tripura while stating that there has been hardly any recruitment for government jobs. Sarkar said that as the BJP’s pre poll promises, there should have been at least 7 lakh jobs but till date the government failed to even declare the number of vacant posts in the government sectors.

Sarkar said that the government has only cheated the people of the state and so people shall reply them accordingly and come forward to change the government.

Meanwhile, CPI-M Tripura state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said called for all opposition parties to unite against BJP. Speaking to Northeast Live, Chowdhury said that the BJP government has cheated the common people and must be ousted from power.

Meanwhile hitting back at Tripura’s Former Chief Minister and Opposition Leader Manik Sarkar, Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury claimed that near about 11,500 jobs have been provided so far during the 4 year tenure of their Government.

During a press conference convened at the Secretariat, ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury alleged that the former CM and present Opposition Leader Manik Sarkar is trying to mislead the people of the state. Giving a detail of the number of jobs provided, Chowdhury said that some 11,500 jobs have been provided by the current Government. Out of them, 4586 have been recruited with regular pay scale, besides around 1300 under Tripura State Rifles or TSR, 1300 Special Police Officer or SPO and 2150 on contract basis jobs and 2158 through outsourcing.

Chowdhury further alleged that being out of power, Manik Sarkar and his is frustrated and so is trying to mislead the people of the state.
