One car was completely damaged in the fire and the other one was partially damaged

Two four-wheelers belonging to an opposition CPIM supporter in the West Tripura district bordering Ishan Chandra Nagar were allegedly burnt down by unknown miscreants on Tuesday night.

The cars belonged to Arijit Biswas a resident of Kismatkuri village under Amtali Police station.

Biswas has been involved with the CPIM’s student wing Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and youth wing Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).

Biswas said that his brother-in-law noticed the fire at first and called locals of the area to douse the flames.

Fire tenders rushed to the spot and successfully doused the fire, however, one car was completely damaged in the fire and the other one was partially damaged.

Later, police arrived at the scene to inspect what had happened.

Although Arijit claimed to have no personal animosity towards anyone in the area, he suspected that his cars may have been targeted because of his involvement with the CPIM party’s student and youth wings, SFI and DYFI.

However, he did not name any party.
