Cooking gas price rise: Tripura Congress’ holds ritualistic protests

Moreover, TPCC orchestrated a symbolic last ritual to a cylinder as a token to protest.

The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) today took a jibe at the Modi government following the hike in prices of LPG by Rs 50 per cylinder.

The Committee stated that it has become out of reach for the poor and middle-class households and very soon they will have to return to earlier cooking methods with wood.

Moreover, TPCC orchestrated a symbolic last ritual to a cylinder as a token to protest.

The Congress leader in presence of TPCC president Birajit Sinha and others during a press briefing raised concerns over increasing the price by Rs 100 within the last 45 days, as the cost was earlier increased by Rs 50 on March 22 last.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, the AICC in-charge of Tripura and Nagaland, Szarita Laitphlang took a dig at Prime Minister Modi’s foreign trips, dress changes, and photoshoots at a juncture when the nation is going through tough times.

Laitphlang further viewed that with huge subsidies the cost of cooking gas which was Rs 414 in the UPA regime in 2014, has increased by Rs 585.50 till now and without any subsidy. She also demanded that the price of LPG cylinders be brought down.
