Increasing incidents of burglary and dacoity in and around Tripura’s capital Agartala have led to a near-panic situation in the city with residents demanding increased security.
Though the police have of late got some success in arresting a few burglars, people in some parts of the city are still spending sleepless nights.

In the wake of the incidents, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has directed the DGP to take appropriate steps to ensure things are back to normal.
West Tripura SP Sankar Debnath, meanwhile, said that the police have intensified patrolling at night, He added that even senior police officials are on duty till late at night.
Meanwhile, locals have decided to take steps on their own to prevent burglaries and dacoities in their respective localities.
