In a moment of immense pride for Tripura, 28-year-old Aritra Roy has etched his name in the state’s history by becoming the first mountaineer from Tripura to scale Mount Everest.

The felicitation ceremony held a special significance as it coincided with World Environment Day.

Demonstrating his commitment to nature, Aritra also took part in a sapling plantation drive, reinforcing the link between his adventurous spirit and environmental consciousness.

But his journey to the top of the world was about more than personal glory. Aritra’s mission carried a powerful message: climate awareness

In a bold move to inspire others, he cycled over 1,300 kilometers from Agartala to Nepal, choosing a low-carbon route to the Everest Base Camp.

His expedition sought to encourage the public to adopt sustainable practices and reduce their carbon footprint.

Speaking to reporters during the event, Aritra sent out a motivational message for the youth of the state.

He urged them to stay mentally strong, maintain a positive outlook, and stay away from drugs and other harmful habits by engaging in sports, fitness, and goal-oriented pursuits.

Looking ahead, Aritra is setting his sights even higher. He revealed plans to conquer 4 more major peaks across the globe, including Mount Kanchenjunga, India’s highest mountain.
