The influx of Bangladeshis illegally entering India through Tripura has reached alarming proportions. The gravity of the situation can be gauged from the fact that altogether 55 such illegal Bangladeshi migrants have been arrested in Tripura in just 2 months.

In the latest development, 9 Bangladeshi nationals, including six women, were arrested at Agartala railway station. Inputs suggest that the Bangladeshi citizens were about to board a train bound for other parts of the country.

All nine individuals were produced in court today, with police seeking remand for further interrogation.

Tapas Das, officer-in-charge of the Government Railway Police station in Agartala, stated that the detained individuals had entered Tripura illegally and were at the railway station intending to travel to Delhi, Bengaluru, and Gujarat in search of jobs.

All of the 55 trespassers (Bangladeshi citizens) had entered India illegally through clandestine routes, aiming to find employment in other parts of the country.

Despite most of the 856 km India-Bangladesh border with Tripura being fenced and strict security measures in place, Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas are frequently apprehended in the northeastern state.
