A brick kiln worker was arrested from Tripura’s Khowai District for killing a cormorant, which is categorized as a rare bird species, on Monday.

As per inputs, a cormorant pair had been wandering in the area adjacent to KMI Bhatta in Kalyanpur. The pair of birds was adopted by the locals to nurture the animal lovers of the area.

However, a brick worker had allegedly killed one of the birds with slingshots, much to the dismay of the locals.

Subsequently, the person was arrested by the Kalyanpur Forest Department who admitted to the crime.

Meanwhile, the accused will be produced in court on a non-bailable charge.
