In a major success for law enforcement in Tripura, the Military Intelligence Branch along with Tripura Police Detective Branch and Teliamura Police arrested two persons for possessing counterfeit notes with a face value of Rs 5 lakh 72 thousand.

The Joint team intercepted two youths identified as Rakesh Malsam and Bajirai Riang, who tried to hand over counterfeit notes to another person at the Korailong petrol pump. Police also seized a motorcycle and a car. Meanwhile two persons, who had come to collect the counterfeit notes, fled from the scene after seeing the police.

Khowai district police superintendent Bhanupada Chakraborty rushed to the Teliamura police station on hearing the news. Teliamura police are in the meantime interrogating the two arrested youths.
