12-Day 73rd BN Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship Kicks-Off in Tripura For the First Time

The championship features 45 teams- 36 men’s and 9 women’s squads with around 1,500 players from 25 states and four union territories.
The 73rd BN Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship 2025 kicked off in Agartala today, with Tripura hosting the prestigious tournament for the first time.
Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated the event at Umakanta Mini Stadium, marking a significant moment for the state.
The 12-day championship features 45 teams- 36 men’s and 9 women’s squads with around 1,500 players from 25 states and four union territories.
Speaking at the grand opening ceremony, CM Saha applauded Tripura Police’s 150-year legacy, emphasising their dedication to maintaining law and order while excelling in sports.
“Tripura Police has a glorious history spanning 150 years. Just as they have been tirelessly working to uphold democracy and ensure peace, they have also built a strong reputation in the field of sports,” said CM Saha.
He further highlighted that the championship is not just about competition but also about fostering sportsmanship, inter-state coordination, and promoting fitness among police forces for a crime-free society.
The inaugural match saw Mizoram take on Uttar Pradesh, setting the stage for intense competition.
With top teams competing, the championship is expected to deliver high-intensity matches while strengthening the bond among police forces across India.
