Tripura BJP MLA accused of watching porn comes up with a unique defence, says ‘don’t know how to use smartphone

Tripura BJP MLA Jadav Lal Nath who has been accused of watching porn during the recent session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly has come out with a unique defence. Though he uses smartphone, he does not know how to use one.

“I do use a smartphone, but I don’t know how to operate it properly. I don’t hesitate to say so. It is tough for me to operate it properly”, the MLA who is drawing a lot of flak and is being slammed by the Opposition, told Northeast Live.

The MLA further said that the whole episode could be a part of a conspiracy against him.

“That day there was a sound in my phone and I checked. I saw some pictures but what appeared on the screen I did not see properly,” the minister said in his defence, further adding, “I tapped the ‘back’ button and closed it in no time. However, in these fraction of seconds a clip was recorded by zooming into it and made viral in social media. I was not in a situation to look at my mobile phone, because I was looking upward. This is unfortunate. I want to say that it might be a conspiracy against me.”

Lamenting the fact that the video went viral, the MLA from Bagbasa said, “The way it has been made viral, I do not belong to that age category, nor do I have that kind of mindset (to look such videos). The page opened due to my carelessness.”

The BJP has now sought a clarification from the MLA. In this regard, Jadav Lal Nath said,”Party has sought a clarification from me. I will give a clarification to the party.”

Earlier, speaking to news agency ANI, the BJP MLA had said,”I do not know how this happened. I was not watching porn videos. I suddenly received a call and the video started playing when I opened it to check. I tried to close the video but closing it takes time.”

As per the viral social media posts the MLA was said to have been allegedly watching porn contents on the last day of the Tripura Legislative Assembly session on March 28. Meanwhile, protests had erupted after the Opposition launched a scathing attack on the BJP government and demanded that stern action such as sacking or suspending the MLA be taken by the Speaker as per provisions of the law.
