Sikkim’s Four Climbers Shine at 25th Northeast Zonal Sports Climbing Championship

Four climbers from Sikkim showcased an impressive performance at the 25th Northeast Zonal Sports Climbing Championship held at the Khelo India Indoor Stadium in Roing, Arunachal Pradesh.

The championship took place from 9th to 12th January 2025.

In the Sub Junior category, Deeki Sherpa claimed two gold medals in Lead Climbing and Bouldering. Shandya Sha also excelled, securing gold in Speed Climbing and bronze in Lead Climbing, while Sahida Khatoon added two silvers in Bouldering and Lead Climbing.

In the Senior category, Krishna Rawat demonstrated his skill, earning a silver medal in Bouldering amidst stiff competition.

The team’s success was attributed to the guidance of Coach Bikash Rawat and Team Manager Wangyal Bhutia. Their expertise played a vital role in shaping the climbers’ strategies and confidence.
