Sikkim to award top performers on International Labour Day
Government will felicitate best performing workers from all the six districts of Sikkim with the 'Mukhya Mantri Shram Samman'.
The state of Sikkim is making elaborate preparations to celebrate International Labours Day on May 1, 2022.
Addressing a Press Conference to brief about the celebrations, Secretary of Sikkim’s Labour Department Namrata Thapa informed that the event is being organised at the Manan Kendra Gangtok at the State-level on a grand scale.
Sikkim’s Labour Secretary while sharing the details of the programme said that the Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang has consented to address the event virtually from New Delhi.
Some significant highlights of the programme will be the felicitation of Inspectors of the Labour Department for their commendable service beyond their call of duty, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic besides a free health camp and distribution of medicines for the benefit of the workers.
Later talking exclusively to Northeast Live, Sikkim Labour Secretary Namrata Thapa said that the Government will felicitate best performing workers from all the six districts of Sikkim with the ‘Mukhya Mantri Shram Samman’.
Similarly, the programme will include the distribution of financial assistance to the workers registered under the Building and Other Construction Workers or BOCW Scheme.
Thapa further informed about new programmes initiated by the Department including the e-services portal ‘Sikkim Shram Suvidha’ which will be formally launched during the programme.
The e-services portal will facilitate online registration of workers and labourers and renewal.
