Sikkim police celebrates 125 years, CM flags off highway patrol cars; cultural show held
The police personnel assigned to the highway patrolling will be wearing body cams to record interactions with citizens.
Celebrating 125 years of Sikkim Police, a cultural talent show was organised at Mannan Kendra in Gangtok on Monday.
The Cultural Talent Show was hosted by radio jockey Priyanka Tamang and Additional SP Rinzing Chopel. Various artists from Sikkim Police showcased their talents at the Cultural Show.
Addressing the event, DIGP Special Branch Praveen Gurung briefed the audience about the various programs and events that were carried out from 27 November 2021, and many other events to be carried out till 27 November 2022.
CM Prem Singh Tamang graced the event as the Chief Guest. Also present on the occasion were Kunga Nima, Minister Education Department, Sonam Lama, Minister Rural Development, Gangtok, MLA YT Lepcha, Jacob Khaling, Political Secretary to CM, Mayor (GMC) Nell Chettri, Deputy Mayor (GMC) Tshering Palden Bhutia, DGP, Sikkim Police A Sudhakar Rao, Secretary to CM SD Dhakal, SDGP Law and Order Akshay Sachdev, senior government functionaries, officials, and family members of the police force.
Earlier, CM Tamang flagged off two Highway Patrol vehicles with a toll-free helpline number 112 and later laid the Foundation Stone of Sikkim Police Memorial in the presence of DGP Sudhakar Rao.
It may be mentioned here that the new highway patrol vehicles are set to ply Sikkim’s highways 24/7 and can be reached out for emergencies on the toll-free number 112.
Besides, the police personnel assigned to the highway patrolling will be wearing body cams to record interactions with citizens.
