Sikkim | Pawan Chamling ends 3 years of exile from Assembly today

Ending his three-year Assembly exile, Former Sikkim Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front President, Pawan Chamling attended the first day of  4 day long Sikkim Legislative Assembly Budget session today.

Ending his three-year Assembly exile, Former Sikkim Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front President, Pawan Chamling attended the first day of  4 day long Sikkim Legislative Assembly Budget session today.  This is the first time the SDF president attended the assembly in the last three years.

The Sikkim Assembly session today mourned the death of ex Chief Minister BB Gurung. It also observed two minutes of silence to pray for the departed soul later adjourning for the day. Sikkim Govt has announced 7 days of state mourning as well.

Earlier Pawan Chamling had said he will attend the upcoming Sikkim Assembly session to voice his opinion on the growing wrongs in the state he had ruled for 25 Years, in a telephonic conversation with Northeast Live.

Chamling said he had not attended the Assembly session in the last three years because he felt democracy was abused by the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha government.

It needs to be mentioned here that the former Chief Minister was heckled out of the Assembly in 2019 on the first session of the present government. Despite getting more vote share in the last assembly election SDF had lost to SKM in the seat count, SDF won 15 seats while SKM won 17.
