In a tragic incident, 23-year old Esha Reddy Sankepalli from Hyderabad and 26-year old paraglider, Sandeep Gurung lost their lives during a paragliding trip in North Sikkim.
The duo fell into the Lachung river in North Sikkim this morning. The incident took place when the their glider flight accidentally got tangled in a wire at Phaka area.
While Sandeep Gurung was a resident of Ranka and 23-year old tourist Esha Reddy Sankepalli, hailed from Hyderabad.
Bodies of both individuals were recovered after hours of search and rescue operations.
Locals, police and ITBP personnel were engaged in the search and rescue operations.
It may be mentioned that this is the 2nd Paragliding accident in Sikkim. The first Accident took place on 3rd April 2018 at Resithang, Gangtok.
