Sikkim observes 12th Chogyal’s birth centenary; Guv participates
The centennial celebration will be observed in four phases and will end on the 23rd of May next year.
Sikkim is celebrating the year-long centennial birth anniversary of the 12th Chogyal of Sikkim, Palden Thondup Namgyal.
The celebration was attended by Governor of Sikkim Ganga Prasad in which he inaugurated a free medical camp as part of the celebrations and offered the traditional “Khada” in front of the Statue of Palden Thondup Namgyal at Deorali.
Meanwhile, Director of National Institute of Tibetology Pema W Rinzing, speaking to Northeast live informed that Sikkim is witnessing a historic event and the main motive behind the celebration is to preserve the history of Sikkimese Chogyal and their contributions, for the future generation.
He added that the centennial celebration will be observed in four phases and will end on the 23rd of May next year.
Besides, Son of the 12th Chogyal, Prince Palden Wangchuk Namgyal was also present at the event.
