Sikkim hosts 1st ever Ranji Trophy Match

Hosts Sikkim locked horns with visitors Manipur in today's encounter. SCA Pres terms it as a historic moment in the state's cricketing history.

Himalayan state Sikkim has etched it’s name in the list of venues to host matches of the prestigiou Ranji Trophy. It was for the first time that the Sikkim Cricket Association Ground at Majitar hosted the first ever Ranji Trophy match today. Hosts Sikkim locked horns with visitors Manipur in today’s encounter.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Sikkim Cricket Association President Lobzang G Tenzing termed it as a historic moment in the state’s cricketing history. Expressing his gladness to host such a sporting event, Tenzing also congratulated all the officials of the Sikkim Cricket Association for making it possible. Meanwhile, the Sikkim Cricket Association President pointed out that due to lack of proper infrastructure such an event could not take place earlier.

After it’s match with Manipur, hosts Sikkim will face Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh in subsequent games to be played at the SCA Ground.

Meanwhile, at Stumps on Day 1 Sikkim scored 58 runs without the loss of any wicket, while Manipur were all out for 186 runs. Kishan Singha was the top scorer for Manipur who remained unbeaten on 42 runs. Sumit was the most successful bowler for Sikkim who scalped 3 wickets by giving away 43 runs in his 12-over spell.
