Sikkim: CM Tamang takes part in plantation drive in Pangthang

CM Prem Singh Tamang informed that the drive was carried out under the Mero Rukh Mero Santati Scheme
Members of the Former Legislators Federation of Sikkim took part in a plantation drive at Golitar, Pangthang in Sikkim under ‘Mero Rukh Mero Santati Scheme’ on Sunday.
The plantation drive was organised by the forest, environment and wildlife department of Sikkim.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Forest Minister Karma Lodey Bhutia also took part in the plantation drive.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, addressing a gathering, informed that the drive was carried out under the ‘Mero Rukh Mero Santati’ scheme under which 100 trees are planted when a child takes birth.
The drive aims to increase the declining fertility rate in Sikkim.
Forest Minister Karma Lodey Bhutia addressing the gathering announced the development of an Interpretation center in Fambonglho Wildlife Sanctuary in order to promote tourism.
Rs 2 crores out of the total Rs 7 crores have already been sanctioned to build the center, he informed.
He further informed that a trekking track of 3 km is also being constructed on the way to Tinjurey from Golitar, which falls under Fambonglho Wildlife Sanctuary.
