Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang is on a Northeast tour, visiting several states of the region.

Chief Minister Tamang, who was in Guwahati this morning, spoke exclusively to Northeast Live and said that the primary motive behind his visit is to further promote unity among the northeastern states.

He further highlighted that the present-day northeast is not merely a vote bank as deemed earlier by previous governments, rather, the region today resonates with holistic development as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Tamang will be touring Meghalaya today. He had earlier visited Arunachal Pradesh and also attended the 61st session of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha in Assam’s Tamulpur on Wednesday.

Earlier on August 5, 2019, CM Tamang Golay visited Guwahati to welcome Meghalaya Governor Tathagatha Roy at LGBI Airport.

The CM also met his then Assam counterpart Sarbananda Sonowal and discussed on a scope of issues including natural farming and tourism.

The meeting which went on for almost 15 minutes principally dove on commonly gainful issues for the advancement of the travel industry in both the states.

He also met then finance minister and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is currently the Chief Minister of Assam, and extended all support for better coordination of Sikkim with NEDA and other Northeastern states.
