Sikkim CM meets Japanese Ambassador in Gangtok, discuss multi-sector collaboration

Sikkim Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang met with the Ambassador of Japan to India, Suzuki Satoshi at Hotel Mayfair in Gangtok on Tuesday. They were accompanied by Senior Officials from the Embassy of Japan in India, senior officials from JICA, F.I.C.C.I and Indian Government officials.
During the meeting, they discussed on important matters, including the production of Green Energy in Sikkim and the initiation of a high-value product industry like semiconductors, microchips, and TVs.
In terms of education, they deliberated on ways to impart the Japanese language and training in relation to various skills and professions, including health care and nursing to improve employment opportunities for the youth. On Horticulture and food processing, Chief Minister P S Tamang proposed conducting workshops to train farmers to boost productivity and diversify the cultivation of cash crops like Shitake Mushrooms.
Later, in the meeting, they discussed issues related to Disaster Management and Climate Change. Apart from these, they also discussed strategies to enhance tourism and the hospitality sectors, focusing on natural and cultural values.
