Sikkim celebrates 3-day Lachung Dzomsa Losar Festival

The three-day Lachung Dzomsa Losar Festival is being celebrated in a grand manner in Lachung, North Sikkim, from Thursday. Various cultural programmes were performed on the occasion, which give importance to various traditional specialties and folk cultures.
The Dzomsa system is a traditional administrative institution practised since the 19th century in the villages of Lachen and Lachung in North Sikkim and is considered an example of a local self-governing system. The head of the Dzomsa is called Pipon. In order to preserve and continue this traditional system, awareness is being spread during this three-day event.
