In a move that would further boost tourism in Sikkim, helicopter service provider, BLADE India, the Indian subsidiary BLADE, a US-based aviation company, have shown interest to start services between Pakyong in Sikkim and Bagdogra in West Bengal.
Officials of BLADE India met Sikkim Commerce and Industries, Tourism and Aviation Minister Tshering Thendup Bhutia and discussed the possibilities of starting the service that would give a big boost to tourism in the land-locked state that is a tourist hotspot but do not have regular flight services nor does it have rail connectivity.
A team from BLADE India visited the Pakyong Airport, a Sikkim government release said today.
BLADE India also plans to expand its services from Pakyong to Delhi in the future, the release added.
BLADE India is currently offering chartered helicopter services in Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. It also operates between India and Nepal.
