Sikkimese boxers won 6 Gold medals and lifted the team Championship in 4th BFI East Zone Elite Men’s Boxing championship held at Meghalaya from 17 to 19 August.
It was after a long time, Sikkimese boxers under the guidance of experienced Namchi’s SAI Coach Mukesh Rai’s team won the overall team championship beating the host State Meghalaya and Assam at Zonal Competitions.
Sikkimese boxers won overall 8 mpedals including 6 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze.
Notably, Krishna Kailash Rai won gold in 51 kg category, while Auv Gurung clinched gold in 54 kg category, Rudhra Chettri secured gold in the 60 kg category, Pravin Chettri also won gold in 63.5 kg category, Gaurav Chettri, and Mahir Tamang, clinched gold in 67 and 71 kilograms respectively.
Adarsh Pradhan won silver in 57 kg and Ramlal Munda won bronze in 48 kg category.
Krishna Kailash Rai has been declared the Best Boxer of the championship.
