In the event of any violations, not only the individual involved but the unit head and the entire chain of command will be held accountable.
Sikkim Director General of Police (DGP) A K Singh has issued a strict circular prohibiting Sikkim Police personnel and officials from engaging in activities such as dancing, singing, or acting while wearing the police uniform. This is “highly embarrassing and detrimental to the professional image of Sikkim Police,” DGP Singh said in the circular issued today.
This directive comes after instances of serving cops creating videos while wearing their uniforms and using operational equipment meant for law enforcement, and then sharing these videos on social media platforms. The DGP has directed all unit heads to ensure these practices are stopped immediately and permanently.
“A matter of serious concern has been recently brought to my attention which is highly embarrassing and detrimental to the professional image of Sikkim Police. This is about the serving members of Sikkim Police making the videos of dancing, singing, and acting while wearing the uniform of Sikkim Police and wielding operational equipments issued for enforcing law and ensuring public safety and posting this films on social media platforms,” the circular signed by DGP Singh read.
In the event of any violations, not only the individual involved but the unit head and the entire chain of command will be held accountable. This step is meant to reinforce the discipline and integrity expected from law enforcement personnel.
