An alert has been sounded by the police in Sikkim over fraudsters impersonating as the Chief Minister and other high officials.
Over the past few days, fraudsters from Jharkhand and West Bengal have been sending messages to people from unverified numbers while impersonating as the Chief Minister, other cabinet ministers and high government officials who are known in public circles.
The fraudsters have been sending messages on WhatsApp to various people asking them to purchase Amazon Gift cards through various online payment modes.
The Gangtok Police has sounded an alert over these messages and have also asked people not to fall for such messages and make any payment online. The police are also trying to trace the numbers and brings the fraudsters to justice.
