ECI recognises Citizen Action Party as political party

Ahead of the Sikkim Assembly elections early next year, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has recognised the Citizen Action Party (CAP) of Sikkim as a political party on December 1, President of CAP, Laxmi Prasad Kafley said today. The party was formed in January this year and is led by President Laxmi Prasad Kafley.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Kafley said that the party will not forge any alliances with other political parties in the run-up to 2024 General Elections.

He said, “The blame for the existing poor situation of Sikkim lies squarely at the feet of the present political parties, whether they be the ruling party or the opposition. Therefore, there will be no merger with them as our party was formed in opposition to their principles.”
