Mineral Water Company Bisleri has filed a case in the Sikkim High Court, challenging the state government’s ban on mineral water sold in plastic bottles with a capacity of 2 liters or less.
Bisleri claimed that the restriction has harmed the company, despite the fact that manufacturers of other products that use identical plastic bottles were not included in the ban order.
In the meantime, the Sikkim High Court has ordered that a notice be issued to the state government in the case. Its next hearing has been set for May 6.

It is worthy to note that the Sikkim government has imposed a ban on the use, manufacture, import, and sale of plastic water bottles with capacities of 2 litres or below, which came into effect in Sikkim from January.
The government made this move, citing the reason to be to ensure a clean and safe environment.
