IED Blast at Shillong Police Bazar: Suspects Identified, informs HM Rymbui

The Meghalaya police have identified the suspects behind the IED blast that rocked Shillong last evening. This has been confirmed by Meghalaya Cabinet Minister Lahkmen Rymbui yesterday on Twitter. 

Taking to Twitter, Rymbui expressed hope that the police will be able to nab all those involved in the incident. Rymbui condemned the incident and assured that peace will be maintained at all cost.

“Today around 6.30 pm an IED blast was triggered at Police Bazar. Suspect have been identified and investigation is on & I am sure that the Police will be able to nab all the people involved. Strongly condemn this act & assured that peace will be maintained at all cost.” Minister Rymbui tweeted.

Shillong Blast

It may be mentioned that the blast occurred outside Delhi Mistan Bhandar in Shillong’s commercial hub Police Bazar yesterday evening.

Soon after the news of the blast, the bomb squad rushed to the spot.

However, no injuries have been reported in the incident, East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nong tynger who also rushed to the blast site informed.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also condemned the blast. Taking to Twitter, Sangma termed the blast as an attempt to dispute peace in Shillong. CM Sangma warned that the perpetrators will not be spared.

“Strongly condemn the blast at Police Bazar, Shillong this evening. An attempt to disrupt peace and bring harm is nothing but a cowardly act. Perpetrators will not be spared. We will ensure peace prevails in the State,” CM Sangma tweeted.

Meanwhile, SP, Sylvester Nongtnger said that the police are trying to determine the nature and intensity of the blast. Refusing to divulge much he said that it is difficult to say whether the blast was triggered by an IED.
