Amid the spike in cases and rising OMICRON threat, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today urged people to vaccinate themselves.

Tynsong stated that despite the less severity of the new variant vaccination was a must.

The Meghalaya deputy chief minister said the testing measures will be ramped up so that those having symptoms can be tested at any given point of time.

It may be mentioned that Meghalaya has already mandated for a negative RT PCR test report at all the state entry points to safeguard the people of the State and keep them safe, healthy, infection-free, and away from the transmission.

Earlier too the Meghalaya deputy chief minister had clarified that imposing a lockdown would be the last resort as economic activities in the state have suffered a lot during the past two waves of the pandemic.

Tynsong allayed apprehensions over the severity of the new Omicron variant and said that those infected are doing well. Besides, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the state is equipped with adequate infrastructure to handle things if there is an outbreak of a much worried third wave.
